In-Line Backstop Netting

Sunset Park | Kimberly, WI

With a planned renovation of the high school baseball complex at Sunset Park in Kimberly, Wisconsin, facility planners were looking for a backstop solution to work with their block wall. The new wall would serve as the base of the backstop, but they really wanted something to enhance the viewing experience for spectators over their old chainlink fence.

They sought a solution that would not only give fans a better view of the game but one that would improve fan safety so friends and family could watch without worry. The backstop needed to be functional, but it also needed to look good. As you can see in the Before & After comparison below, the transformation was stunning.

Beacon’s Engineered In-Line Backstop Netting checked all the boxes. The clean lines of the overall backstop allows their classy brick wall take center stage. With just four poles supporting the 60′ x 27′ high net panels, the sight lines from the seating areas were a massive improvement. The overall size of the netting extended down the first and third base lines. That extended foul line netting — in addition to being much higher than the old fence — greatly reduces the risk of fan injury from foul balls.

The Beacon Projects Team worked closely with Kimberly representatives, as well as their contractors, by providing complete shop drawings and frequent consultation to ensure the project would exceed customer expectations. The result speaks for itself and gives the community peace of mind that they have made major improvements in providing fan safety.
