CH Double First Base Template
The CH Double 1st Base Template is designed for use with CH base anchors, helping install them quickly and accurately while solving the challenge of meeting the new double first base rule in high schools and colleges. Simply measure the field to the desired distances, place the template on the ground in the correct location, and drive the CH anchors through the precut holes. No digging or concrete is needed.

For best results, drive both CH anchors in halfway and test fit the double first base to confirm everything is lined up correctly. While the anchors are still halfway out of the ground, adjustments can be made with the CH Driver tool. Once the base fits properly, drive both anchors down halfway again and repeat the test. If everything is still aligned, drive the anchors fully into the ground at least one inch below the surface.
The template works for five types of installs:
- A standard single CH anchor at first, second, or third base
- Adding one individual orange or green safety base at first base to complete the double first base requirement on a field with CH anchors already installed
- Adding a molded double first base on a field with CH anchors already installed
- Setting two CH anchors at first base for two individual bases, one white and one orange or green, on a field with no anchors installed
- Setting two CH anchors at first base to accept a molded double first base on a field with no anchors installed
Installation takes only minutes once the field is measured, with no digging or concrete, and future maintenance is minimal. On fields with an existing CH first base anchor, adding just one orange or green safety base and one additional CH anchor creates a double first base setup without the cost of a larger double first base system. The template is made of durable, hard black plastic, 1/8 inch thick, smooth on one side and textured on the other.
